Save the Children Helping Families Left Homeless by Earthquake in Indonesia

Save the Children is appealing for public support to help provide basic necessities to thousands of children and families left homeless by a powerful earthquake that struck early Saturday morning in central Indonesia.
The magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit highly populated areas about 250 miles east of the capitol, Jakarta, while many were sleeping. Indonesian officials estimated more than 4,600 died from the disaster, with thousands more injured, and the totals are likely to rise further.
Tens of thousands of homeless survivors in the disaster area are now living on streets, in rice fields and even in graveyards as they fear additional aftershocks. Save the Children staff members in Bantul, the worst affected region, estimate that as many as 80 percent of homes may be damaged. Families are in immediate need of shelter, blankets, cooking utensils and hygiene items, they reported.

Indonesia Appeals for International Help After Java Earthquake

May 28 (Bloomberg) -- Indonesia appealed for humanitarian aid from foreign countries after a magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck yesterday in central Java, leaving thousands dead and homeless.
About 90 percent of those found dead were in Bantul, the hardest hit area of Yogyakarta, Gozali Situmorang, an official at the Ministry of Social Affairs, said today in a telephone interview. The death toll was at least 4,285, Agence France- Presse reported.

Pappy
Pappy was a pleasant-looking old fellow. He had the whitest hair which he kept neatly cut and combed. His eyes were blue, though faded with age, and they seemed to emit a warmth from within. His face was quite drawn, but when he smiled, even his wrinkles seemed to soften and smile with him. He had a talent for whistling and did so happily each day as he dusted and swept his pawnshop; even so, he had a secret sadness, but everyone who knew him respected and adored him.
Most of Pappy's customers returned for their goods, and he did not do much business, but he did not mind. To him, the shop was not a livelihood as much as a welcome pastime.
There was a room in the back of his shop where he spent time tinkering with a menagerie of his own precious items. He referred to this back room as "memory hall." In it were pocket watches, clocks and electric trains. There were miniature steam engines and antique toys made of wood, tin or cast iron, and there were various other obsolete trinkets as well.
Spending time in memory hall delighted him as he recalled many treasured moments from his past. He handled each item with care, and sometimes he would close his eyes and pause to relive a sweet, simple childhood memory.
One day, Pappy was working to his heart's content reassembling an old railroad lantern. As he worked, he whistled the melody of a railroad tune and reminisced about his own past as a switchman. It was a typical day at the shop. Outside, the sun illuminated the clear sky, and a slight wind passed through the door. Whenever the weather was this nice, Pappy kept the inner door open. He enjoyed the fresh air -- almost as much as the distinctive smell of antiques and old engine oil.
As he was polishing his newly restored lantern, he heard the tinkling of his bell on the shop door. The bell, which produced a uniquely charming resound, had been in Pappy's family for over a hundred years. He cherished it dearly and enjoyed sharing its song with all who came to his shop. Although the bell hung on the inside of the main door, Pappy had strung a wire to the screen door so that it would ring whether the inner door was open or not. Prompted by the bell, he left memory hall to greet his customer.
At first, he did not see her. Her shiny, soft curls barely topped the counter.
"And how can I help you, little lady"? Pappy's voice was jovial.
"Hello, sir." The little girl spoke almost in a whisper. She was dainty. Bashful. Innocent. She looked at Pappy with her big brown eyes, then slowly scanned the room in search of something special. Shyly she told him, "I'd like to buy a present, sir."
"Well, let's see," Pappy said, "who is this present for"?
"My grandpa. It's for my grandpa. But I don't know what to get."
Pappy began to make suggestions. "How about a pocket watch? It's in good condition. I fixed it myself," he said proudly.
The little girl didn't answer. She had walked to the doorway and put her small hand on the door. She wiggled the door gently to ring the bell. Pappy's face seemed to glow as he saw her smiling with excitement.
"This is just right," the little girl bubbled. "Momma says grandpa loves music."
Just then, Pappy's expression changed. Fearful of breaking the little girl's heart, he told her, "I'm sorry, missy. That's not for sale. Maybe your grandpa would like this little radio."
The little girl looked at the radio, lowered her head, and sadly sighed, "No, I don't think so."
In an effort to help her understand, Pappy told her the story of how the bell had been in his family for so many years, and that was why he didn't want to sell it.
The little girl looked up at him, and with a giant tear in her eye, sweetly said, "I guess I understand. Thank you, anyway."
Suddenly, Pappy thought of how the rest of the family was all gone now, except for his estranged daughter whom he had not seen in nearly a decade.
Why not, he thought. Why not pass it on to someone who will share it with a loved one? God only knows where it will end up anyway.
"Wait... little lady." Pappy spoke just as the little girl was going out the door -- just as he was hearing his bell ring for the last time. "I've decided to sell the bell. Here's a hanky. Blow your nose."
The little girl began to clap her hands. "Oh, thank you, sir. Grandpa will be so happy."
"Okay, little lady. Okay." Pappy felt good about helping the child; he knew, however, he would miss the bell. "You must promise to take good care of the bell for your grandpa -- and for me, too, okay"? He carefully placed the bell in a brown paper bag.
"Oh, I promise," said the little girl. Then, she suddenly became very still and quiet. There was something she had forgotten to ask. She looked up at Pappy with great concern, and again almost in a whisper, asked, "How much will it cost"?
"Well, let's see. How much have you got to spend"? Pappy asked with a grin.
The child pulled a small coin purse from her pocket then reached up and emptied two dollars and forty-seven cents onto the counter.
After briefly questioning his own sanity, Pappy said, "Little lady, this is your lucky day. That bell costs exactly two dollars and forty-seven cents."
Later that evening as Pappy prepared to close up shop, he found himself thinking about his bell. Already he had decided not to put up another one. He thought about the child and wondered if her grandpa liked his gift. Surely he would cherish anything from such a precious grandchild.
At that moment, just as he was going to turn off the light in memory hall, Pappy thought he heard his bell. Again, he questioned his sanity; he turned toward the door, and there stood the little girl. She was ringing the bell and smiling sweetly.
Pappy was puzzled as he strolled toward the small child. "What's this, little lady? Have you changed your mind"?
"No," she grinned. "Momma says it's for you."
Before Pappy had time to say another word, the child's mother stepped into the doorway, and choking back a tear, she gently said, "Hello, Dad."
The little girl tugged on her grandpa's shirttail. "Here, Grandpa. Here's your hanky. Blow your nose."

Today's Story - A Baby's Hug
We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a high chair and noticed everyone was quietly sitting and talking. Suddenly, Erik squealed with glee and said, "Hi." He pounded his fat baby hands on the high chair tray. His eyes were crinkled in laughter and his mouth was bared in a toothless grin, as he wriggled and giggled with merriment. I looked around and saw the source of his merriment.It was a man whose pants were baggy with a zipper at half-mast and his toes poked out of would-be shoes. His shirt was dirty and his hair was uncombed and unwashed. His whiskers were too short to be called a beard and his nose was so varicose it looked like a road map. We were too far from him to smell, but I was sure he smelled. His hands waved and flapped on loose wrists."Hi there, baby; Hi there, big boy. I see ya, buster," the man said to Erik.My huband and I exchanged looks, "What do we do?" Erik continued to laugh and answer, "Hi." Everyone in the restaurant noticed and looked at us and then at the man. The old geezer was creating a nuisance with my beautiful baby. Our meal came and the man began shouting from across the room,"Do ya patty cake? Do you know peek-a-boo? Hey, look, he knows peek-a-boo."Nobody thought the old man was cute. He was obviously drunk. My husband and I were embarrassed. We ate in silence; all except for Erik, who was running through his repertoire for the admiring skid row bum, who in turn, reciprocated with his cute comments. We finally got through the meal and headed for the door. My husband went to pay the check and told me to meet him in the parking lot. The old man sat poised between me and the door."Lord, just let me out of here before he speaks to me or Erik," I prayed. As I drew closer to the man, I turned my back trying to sidestep him and avid any air he might be breathing. As I did, Erik leaned over my arm, reaching with both arms in a baby's "pick-me-up" position. Before I could stop him, Erik had propelled himself from my arms to the man's.Suddenly a very old smelly man and a very young baby consummated their love and kinship. Erik in an act of total trust, love, and submission laid his tiny head upon the man's ragged shoulder. The man's eyes closed, and I saw tears hover beneath his lashes. His aged hands full of grime, pain, and hard labor, cradled my baby's bottom and stroked his back.No two beings have ever loved so deeply for so short a time. I stood awestruck. The old man rocked and cradled Erik in his arms and his eyes opened and set squarely on mine. He said in a firm commanding voice,"You take care of this baby."Somehow I managed, "I will," from a throat that contained a stone. He pried Erik from his chest, lovingly and longingly, as though he were in pain. I received my baby, and the man said,"God bless you, ma'am, you've given me my Christmas gift."I said nothing more than a muttered thanks. With Erik in my arms, I ran for the car. My husband was wondering why I was crying and holding Erik so tightly, and why I was saying,"My God, my God, forgive me."I had just witnessed God's love shown through the innocence of a tiny child who saw no sin, who made no judgment; a child who saw a soul, and a mother who saw a suit of clothes. I was a Christian who was blind, holding a child who was not. The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me,

I give talks to the W.I.(Womens Institutes) Impressed,huh!? Did you know that you have to audition before they let you stand up in front of their gals?Oh yes! You stand there in front of assorted members ,who have gathered for the day,and have to give them a" taster",of what your main talk will consist of. I told them about my work as a Clairvoyant.
They deemed me safe enough to let loose on the circuit! Consequently,I go round various W.I.`s,trying to dispel some of the "myths" associated with Clairvoyants,Mediums,etc.I know for sure,that one little old lady in the village,sees me,,and without knowing what I do,think,or believe, says"Work of the Devil"! Nice one!
So,I thought it might be an idea to go and show them,what a real captive clairvoyant looks like...
Having taken my special pill,so that my cloven hooves dont show for a while,of course!
Most of them are interested.Of course ,there are always a few who don`t look,listen,or learn,because they KNOW that I am obviously the Devil incarnate.What do you do?????
I can only spread the seeds,and ,yep,a few are bound to fall on fallow ground..HA. But,at least it gives some,the opportunity to ask questions afterwards,or tell me of their experiences. At least,it gives them the chance to see that we are human(except for the cloven hooves,natch!)

Why Do Disasters Happen?

The world is constantly being swept by both natural and man-made disasters. This is no new phenomenon. Throughout history we have seen the results of earthquakes, volcanoes, floods and now the Tsunami. We have also seen the results of man-made disasters like the wars in Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and the Sudan. The worst natural disaster within the last 100 years was the death of 3.7 million in 1931 when the Yangtze River flooded, and of course the worst manmade disaster was the holocaust where it is estimated that up to 6 million perished. It is much easier to explain the cruelty of man towards mankind as we all have the potential for bad as well as good but even that is too simple an answer. Natural disasters are much more difficult to explain especially if you believe in a loving God. Hundreds of books have been written on this subject and still we are left wondering. However, whatever the reasons answer in not found in why they happen but how we respond to them. This may be our opportunity to allow good karma to occur by blessing others and by so doing both as individuals and collectively, we can work some good in the world and, at the same time, affect our own destiny and karma.

A Paranormal, Psychic and Spiritual Event

No one alive today can say that the world is a safe place to live in but over recent years there seems to have been a sudden upsurge in sudden and unpredictable deaths. When I asked David about the event he explained that there are also historical reasons to explain why so many souls remain earthbound. Many religions have taught and still do, that God will bring about a physical resurrection on the day of Judgement and so it is felt that they refuse to move into the light as they are still waiting for an Angel trumpet heralding that the time for the rising of the dead is at hand. Even the beliefs of older religions, such as that of the Ancient Egyptians, have all resulted in this confusion. Spirit have brought a message that the time is upon us to begin releasing these souls and to send them home.

The message stated that four nations should be gathered in this quest to represent the four corners of the world and that 12 trance mediums should sit in an inner circle with an outer circle of the spiritually aware. While the inner circle generates an energy of pure love and light, the outer circle acts much as a battery charging the inner circle with the energy needed to succeed in its task. Within the four countries working at the same time and on the same date the energy created will act as a beacon for these souls and light their way to the home they should have reached long ago.

David went on to explain that it was during a routine meditation that spirit made this message available to him. While sitting in his regular weekly circle the following day, David received further confirmation of how and why this should occur.

I know there are sceptics out there who may not have heard of David but he himself is his own biggest critic. He openly admits that he that his initial reaction was “Why me, for I am nobody?” And Spirit answered “Why not you?” For you have Listened “ Over the weeks that followed David received confirmation from others who had heard the message and a worldwide call rang out to be answered by the countries now involved. David has always seemed to know what was going to happen before it did and as a child he found it perplexing. He thought it strange as he found other people did not do this. A visit to a spiritualist church in his late teens changed everything. The medium gave David a message form the other side which David found astounding but the Medium said David would also become a medium, David just found that amusing. But in his dreams David began to receive messages from his Indian guide and over the next few weeks encounters with people with a different outlook led him to take on board the message to train and develop. A Ghost caught my Bus

Hello everyone David [reader 4411] here, for those of you who may not be aware im also a Paranormal Investigator, and deal with numerous and bizarre cases concerning Spirits and as some would have them called Ghosts.
A few weeks ago I was approached by a bus driver who lives in Sheffield of a tale that literally rang his bell.His regular route took him via what is known as the Stocksbridge Bypass near Sheffield, now this area is reputed for being a very haunted location. It was while on his last shift late one night, as he was making his way back to the bus depot, that he picked up an old gentleman, who wanted to get off at the depot. They chatted for a while and the man actually paid him a solid 50 pence coin.
The driver watched the old man sit in his seat toward the rear and concentrated on the journey, glancing occasionally in his mirror to see the man still sitting there. The journey was short and no one else got on and as he pulled into the stop by the depot, he looked to see the man was no longer in his seat and couldnt be seen.
Now the driver hadnt heard him go up the stairs, and when the driver searched the bus, it was completely empty, the man had vanished and no he hadnt used an emergency exit to get off as all of them were securely shut tight.
So did this driver actually pick up a ghost, even he has his doubts, but has no explanation of how the old man disappeared or even paid 50 pence which the driver still has to this day.

Since the millenium the Paranormal and Psychics have been in the forefront of many people’s minds. This has resulted in them questioning and seeking to discover and know more. Are Ghosts and Spirits a reality? Is there an afterlife? Are Mediums and Psychics really able to communicate with people who have departed a physical existence? This are questions that have been debated and researched for many years.
However for many people proof has been shown to them a hundred fold, and we are

The message made us aware of how many live's have met suddenly with death. Some
